Permits
Building Permits are important

Obtaining a building permit is an important step for homeowners who want to ensure that their construction project is safe, legal, and up to code. A building permit is essentially a legal permission from the local government agency that allows homeowners to begin a construction project. Before issuing a building permit, the government agency will review the plans and specifications of the project to ensure that it meets local building codes and safety requirements.

Building Permit Process
  1. The homeowner will pull the Homeowner Building Permit and provide the Plot Plan. When the homeowner pulls the building permit, this will save you approximately $1500 on the total cost of your project, as my time is better spent on engineering and ordering building supplies.

  2. You can typically find your Plot Plan with your closing papers given to you by the closing company when you bought the house. If the Plot Plans  cannot be located, a surveyor will need to be hired, which starts at $750.

  3. Dennis Brewer Construction will provide the structural engineering at no cost to you, which will save you anywhere from $275 - $1350, (See image below) and I will call in all of the inspections and get them approved from start-to-finish.

Insurance

Insurance is important

  • When a homeowner hires a building contractor for a construction project, they are entrusting that contractor with their property and their investment. It's essential for homeowners to hire a building contractor that has general liability insurance to protect themselves from any potential accidents or damages that may occur during the project. If the contractor does not have this type of insurance, the homeowner could be held financially responsible for any injuries or damages that occur, which could be costly and stressful. With general liability insurance, the contractor is responsible for any damages or injuries that occur on the job site, giving the homeowner peace of mind and protecting their investment.
